He is now the undisputed "ace" of the 2016 Red Sox.
Rick Porcello tossed a complete game five-hitter to gain his 14th win and end a 4-game Boston losing streak.
"Pretty Ricky" was masterful, winning his sixth straight start and dotting the strike zone with killer precision. He struck out three and
walked none in
the 6-2 Red Sox win. Porcello is only the fourth MLB pitcher to reach the 14-win plateau—along with
Chris Tillman,
Chris Sale, and
Stephen Strasburg. On the offensive side, both
Xander Bogaerts and
Jackie Bradley, Jr. went yard—Bogie knocking in three runs.
Dustin Pedroia also had two hits. The win moves Boston to within 1.5 games of losing Baltimore.
