While
Mookie Betts certainly put on a late charge, the editors of FenwayNation have named
Xander Bogaerts as our
May Player Of the Month. Truth be told, there were
several potential winners—including Betts,
Jackie Bradley, Jr.,
David Ortiz and
Steven Wright. But, Bogaerts used May to re-state his claim as the best all-around player on the team. During the month, the X-Man hit .395, with 5 HRs and 20 RBIs. His 49 hits during the month place him at the top of the MLB leader board. In May, Bogaerts also posted a .429 OBP and a slugging percentage of .589. He ended the month with an OPS of 1.017. Oh, did we mention that he is leading the AL in hitting for the year (.350) and is riding a 24-game hitting streak? Congratulations, Bogie!
