Two Homers Do In Red Sox, Fall to Giants, 2-1
Those of us in The Nation with a predilection toward doom knew that last night's game at AT&T Park would end in a 2-1 loss. We even knew that a second solo HR would bedevil an otherwise solid outing by eventual loser David Price. Moreover, we knew the nemesis would be a no-name Giant who would clout his first career HR. And to top it all off, we knew that a wacky rally in the 9th would fall short. To those Millennials in the audience—this is how it was before 2004. The Red Sox actually led in this contest 1-0, on another clutch HR by Chris Young. But, alas, the fates would not allow a sweep in Epcot Way-Too-Cool-Ville (AKA San Francisco). Young and Mookie Betts accounted for four of Boston's five hits in a disappointing loss.
