Red Sox Trying To "Fenway-Ize" AAA McCoy Stadium
So, do you like the obstructed views, rainouts and cramped 1912 seating at 104-year-old Fenway Park? Then you'll love what Larry Lucchino and the Red Sox are trying to pull at tired, 74-year-old McCoy Stadium in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. After being smacked down on their elitist plan for a "riverfront" stadium in downtown Providence, the Sox are now commissioning a "study" to look at "upgrades" to McCoy. Gee, sound familiar? When the NOG (New Ownership Group) can't soak taxpayers, they recoil from spending their own cash on new stadiums. Heaven forbid! Just make some cosmetic improvements, gin-up the Fenway nostalgia machine, and gullible fans will eat it up! Looks like the same approach in Pawtucket.
