According to Peter Abraham of
The Boston Globe, the Red Sox have signed relief pitcher Casey Janssen to a minor league contract. Janssen will report initially to the Lowell Spinners and then (soon after that) to the AAA Pawtucket Red Sox. Janssen appeared in 40 games
last year for the Washington Nationals—going 2-5 with a 4.95 ERA. He was signed over the winter by the Padres, but released by San Diego at the end of Spring Training. In eight seasons with the Blue Jays, he was 29-24 with a 3.52 ERA in 389 games.
