With the 12th overall pick in the 2016 MLB Draft, the Red Sox selected 17-year old high-school LHP
Jason Groome. As recently as April, Groome was considered by many to be a potential #1 overall pick in this year's draft. The 6'5" 225 pound Groome has a mid-90s fastball—but his signature pitch is a sick curveball (perhaps the best
Uncle Charlie in the entire draft). He was suspended for breaking arcane high school transfer rules, but still threw a no-hitter this year with 19 strikeouts. If they can sign this kid (keeping him from attending community college in Florida), this could be one of the biggest steals in this year's draft. With thier second-round pick, Boston selected
C.J. Chatham, a shortstop from Florida Atlantic University. Chatham is 6'4" and was the Conference USA Player of the Year.
