Julio Teheran, the best starter on the going-nowhere Atlanta Braves, would be the perfect trade acquisition for the Red Sox this year. Last night,
he held the Metropolitans to one hit in a complete-game shutout, walking none and striking out seven. Teheran is now 3-7 (hey, he pitches for the Braves), with a stellar 2.66 ERA and a
sick 0.91 WHIP. Hitters are batting .188 against the righty. While it will likely take a major prospect haul to get Teheran—as long as we avoid
Yoan Moncada and
Andrew Benintendi (and keep safe all three
Killer B's on the major league roster),
Dave Dombrowski should spend what it takes to go get him. He is the perfect match—both short-term
and long-term rotation help. Also, the fact that Sox exec
Fran Wren drafted Teheran while working for Atlanta should give the team more confidence in this guy's upside.
