Multiple sources are reporting that, if A's GM
Billy Beane really wants to trade
Sonny Gray, the Red Sox are the top landing spot. Jon Heyman of
TodaysKnuckleball.com reports that Red Sox honcho
Dave Dombrowski has already put in a "feeling out" phone call and
Boston remains the most likely trade partner this year. Gray struggled most of the year, but showed signs of his old self in his last start. His trade value is still artificially low and thus the Red Sox could probably get him with less of a 'prospect hit' than they might have otherwise. Gray is still only 26 years old—and, even with a bad 2016 so far, he is still 36-25 with a 3.16 ERA for his not-quite 4-year career. We say—
get him!
