Despite Red Sox knuckle-baller
Steven Wright leading the AL in ERA (2.09), there's been very little
Cy Young talk going his way. However, ESPN's relatively neutral
"Cy Predictor" ranks Wright in the fifth spot on the list—trailing
Chris Sale,
Zach Britton,
Chris Tillman and
Danny Salazar. And, since Britton is a closer and Wright trails Salazar by just one-tenth of a point, you could make the case that Wright is the third highest-ranked
starter on the list. Interestingly,
Rick Porcello comes in ninth on the ESPN list. And, former Red Sox pitcher
Rich Hill (now with Oakland) ranks just ahead of Porcello in eighth position.
