According to Red Sox honcho
Dave Dombrowski,
only five teams currently stink enough to want to unload quality starting pitching--thus limiting the trade options of your
Carmine Hose. Most observers peg those five teams as: San Diego, Atlanta, Minnesota, Milwaukee, and Philadelphia. So, realistically, the
only starter worth talking about on any of those clubs is Atlanta's
Julio Teheran. The 25-year old Colombian righty is currently 3-7 (don't forget he hurls for the
awful Bravos) with a stellar 2.46 ERA. Astoundingly, in 106 innings pitched, he's given up just 70 hits--
thirty-six fewer hits than innings pitched. Not surprisingly, his WHIP is a ridiculous 0.887 and he's struck out 8.4 batters for every nine innings pitched. The earliest he can become a free agent is 2020--and there's a $12 million team option for
that year. As long as
Yoan Moncada and
Andrew Benintendi are kept out of this deal (along with
The Killer B's), Dombrowski needs to make this move
today--long before the other pitching-hungry teams beat him to the punch at the trade deadline.
