Consensus That Red Sox Will Take HS Pitcher In Draft
Mock drafts are just that—mock. So, while everyone with a website and an opinion has one, we won't subject you to that. We will, however, tell you that a consensus is building that the Red Sox will select among a few talented High School hurlers tonight with the 12th overall pick. The three who seem to be mentioned most often are: Braxton Garrett, of Florence High School in Alabama; Joey Wentz, of Shawnee Mission East High School in Kansas; and Ian Anderson, of Shenendehowa High School in Clifton Park, N.Y. (not to be confused with the man behind Jethro Tull). There's some rumbling that the Sox will take a catcher—left-handed hitting Zack Collins out of the University of Miami. However, we're hoping for another Zack—the University of Louisville's Zack Burdi—who some say could move into the Boston bullpen almost immediately. The draft starts tonight—with coverage on MLB Network.
