According to Jon Heyman (reporting on
TodaysKnuckleball.com),
both Jose Bautista and Edwin Encarnacion "envision" the Red Sox as a possible free-agent landing spot in 2017. Assuming
David Ortiz follows through on his commitment to retire after this season, either one of the
Blue Jay Boppers would fit nicely in the Boston DH role next year. Reportedly, Bautista is looking for a $150 million, five-year pact. Encarnacion, on the other hand, is seeking at least four years at a yet-to-be-determined cost. Stay tuned!
