MLB Commissioner
Rob Manfred wants to see more baseball expansion—after some little issues get resolved (like crap stadiums deals in Tampa and Oakland). And, now, we get a window into who his
personal favorites might be for new franchise sites.
Montreal and Mexico City are his top contenders—clearly fulfilling his desire to see a broadening international scope for the game. Despite the
huge success of recent 'Spring Training' games in
La Belle Provence, Manfred seems to be
leaning toward Mexico City,
"I think it would be great for the growth of the game. I think Mexico City in particular would be new ground for us obviously." It's unclear whether Manfred would make Mexico pay for the stadium (see what we did there?).
