Rick Porcello made two mistakes Friday night—and both were HRs to
Edwin Encarnacion. Other than that, the righty went 6.1 solid innings—giving up no
other hits, striking out eight and walking just one. The Boston offense was powered by
Travis Shaw (two-run double) and
David Ortiz (RBI double, stolen base) in
the 5-3 win.
Mookie Betts and
Dustin Pedroia had the other
Carmine Hose RBIs, as, for the second time in a week, the Red Sox got to knuckleballer
R.A. Dickey.
Christian Vazquez had a triumphant return to the majors—going 2-4, scoring two runs and picking
Troy Tulowitzki off of first base with a laser of a throw. Boston has now won three of their first four match-ups with the defending AL East champion Blue Jays.
