If you started watching
The Golf Channel after
Joe Kelly and the Red Sox fell behind 7-2, you could certainly be forgiven. However,
The Carmine Hose turned out to be the
real "Masters", as they stormed back for
an 8-7 win over the Blue Jays.
Brock Holt had the big comeback blow—a line drive grand slam in the 6th that brought Boston within one. An inning later,
David Ortiz tied the game with an RBI single, followed by a the game-winning RBI single by
Hanley Ramirez. The Red Sox bullpen (
Noe Ramirez,
Junichi Tazawa,
Matt Barnes,
Koji Uehara,
Craig Kimbrel) was superb—
giving up just two hits and no runs over six innings. All this after
Joe Kelly imploded in the fourth inning—giving up six runs, capped by a grand slam. This type of win—on the road against a talented division rival—could prove to be a huge confidence-builder for this ballclub.
