In a devastating interview with
The Boston Herald,
Pablo Sandoval's former trainer said
the Red Sox third baseman needs a "babysitter" to keep him from overeating.
Ethan Banning, who trained Sandoval in 2011 and 2012, stated the following,
"He's proven to me and shown consistently that he's got to have somebody like me holding his hand. And it's not an exercise thing, it's an eating thing...It's like the alcoholic that won't admit he's an alcoholic: well, you can't address that you're an alcoholic if you don't ever admit there's a problem." Sandoval has been placed on the 15-disabled list with what is being called a "shoulder strain"—but pretty much everyone understands is a "time-out" for both the player and the team.
