Earlier in the Spring, any trade rumors that sent
Pablo Sandoval to San Diego brought
James Shields back to Boston. It made sense. The two inflated salaries pretty much off-set one another—Panda at an average annual salary of $19,000,000; Shields at an average annual salary of $18,750,000. But, then, discussion shifted to a younger starter (soon-to-be 29-year old
Tyson Ross), prospects and a significant "eatage" of Sandoval's salary by Boston. Now, the rumors have come full-circle, with Shields back in the mix. Reportedly,
the Padres brass "have talked internally" about the deal. Stay tuned!
