Craig Kimbrel can certainly bring it—in excess of 100 MPH. But some major league hitters waiting on that cheese can send it out of the yard at roughly the same velocity. That happened last night, as Kimbrel coughed-up a two-out game-tying HR in the bottom of the ninth. Luckily for
The Carmine Hose,
Jackie Bradley, Jr. wasn't going to allow a loss. The center-fielder delivered a bases-loaded tie-braking single in the 12th inning to give Boston a
hard-fought 7-5 win.
Heath Hembree pitched three scoreless innings to get the victory. Aside from JBJ, other offensive contributions came from
Dustin Pedroia (three hits),
Ryan Hanigan (two hits, RBI),
Mookie Betts (two hits) and
David Ortiz (two hits). Boston heads to Atalanta tonight for the first half of a
really dumb "home and home" four-game set with the Braves.
