Catcher Injury Creates Trade Options For Texas And Sox
Texas catcher Robinson Chirinos will be out for three months with a fractured right forearm. The Rangers were already thin in the backstop department, and now they are in full panic mode. Enter your Boston Red Sox—flush with catching depth. The most likely Texas target would be Ryan Hanigan—a solid veteran that could immediately solve their short-term issues. The real question is how much Boston could get in return for the Andover High School grad. Given the Texas situation, the haul should be bigger than it would be normally. On our end, Christian Vazquez is still on a slow, careful track back from Tommy John surgery down in Pawtucket—but could be ready for promotion in the middle of this year. Until then, either Dan Butler or Sandy Leon could join Blake Swihart in a new catching tandem. Stay tuned!
