David Ortiz arrived today for his final Fenway Park Opening Day with a little bit of flair. Did we say "a
little bit of flair"? Actually, the gold sneakers he wore into the clubhouse were anything but lacking
any degree of flair. But, hey, with 505 career HRs and a clear path to Cooperstown, he can wear whatever he wants as far as we're concerned—including gold
spikes if he wants to. Still, we can't help but remember the words of
Steely Dan, "
Bad sneakers and a Pina Colada my friend." Yup.
