Red Sox Pitching Prospect Kopech Breaks Hand In Fight
It looks as if the Red Sox have a very talented wild card on their hands. Michael Kopech, a 2014 first round pick, broke his pitching hand in a fight with an un-named teammate recently. Supposedly, the matter is being handled "internally" by the team. By the way, this is same 'rocket scientist' who was suspended for 50 games last season for using Oxilofrine, a substance banned under the Minor League Drug Prevention and Treatment Program. Kopech is ranked as Boston's fifth best overall prospect by the authoritative SoxProspects.Com—and is projected to have "number two starter" potential. Maybe. If he gets his head screwed on straight. The big (6'3") righty posted a stellar 2.63 ERA last year in fifteen Single-A starts.
