Yoooooooouuuuuuuk! |
He's
working for his old boss Theo Epstein these days, is related to
Tom Brady (by marriage) and has
opened a brew pub in California. Not a bad life for
Kevin Youkilis—
The Greek God Of Walks—who turns 37 years old today. The former favorite of Red Sox fans will always hold a special place in our hearts. During his nine years in
Carmine Hose, Youk hit .287 with an astounding .388 on-base percentage. Many people forget that
he finished third in AL MVP voting in 2008, when he hit .312 with 29 HRs and 115 RBIs. He followed that up in the 2009 season with 27 HRs, 94 RBIs, a .305 average and
a .413 OBP. Fittingly, he finished
6th in MVP voting that year. Our favorite Youk memory is when he gave phantom high-fives to ignoring teammates after his first career HR. We love you, Youk—and always will. By the way, that Yankee thing is all forgiven.
Happy birthday!
