Mookie Betts hit a three-run home run in
a 6-0, 7-inning exhibition win against the Boston College Eagles. Betts' blast came in the 4th inning and was one of ten Red Sox hits. Other regulars collecting hits were
Hanley Ramirez (2 hits, including a double),
Dustin Pedroia,
Xander Bogaerts and
Blake Swihart. Knuckle-baller
Steven Wright (who
does not have the world's largest seashell collection) pitched two scoreless innings—striking out four. The Eagles got a total of four hits—two by 21-year old first baseman
Joe Cronin—you heard that right! The Red Sox will next take on the
Northeastern University Huskies—a far superior squad to their Chestnut Hill rivals.
