Middlebrooks And Cecchini |
Two ex-Red Sox are battling to win a roster spot on the re-building Milwaukee Brewers.
Will Middlebrooks and Garin Cecchini are both in Phoenix looking to re-boot their stalled careers at Brewers camp. Middlebrooks—who showed such promise in Boston back in 2012—has fought off multiple injuries and poor performances since. Cecchini was once the 'heir apparent' at 3B—ironically putting competitive pressure on Middlebrooks in the Red Sox organization. Now, with
Aaron Hill ahead of
both of them at the hot corner, they need to show the Brewers that they can somehow contribute to a team that has hit bottom (they finished 32 games behind St. Louis last year). Says Middlebrooks about 2016,
"It's easy to fold and hide in a corner. But you have to do the exact opposite. You have to fight. So that's what I'm going to do. I'm going to fight and give it everything I've got. There's a lot left in the tank." Hopefully, they can
both catch on with
The Boys Of Craig Counsell.
