Allen Craig |
It's the longest of long shots, but if
Allen Craig turns up in camp (as a non-roster invitee) and starts raking, the Red Sox will have a really nice problem on their hands. It would give them double back-up (along with
Travis Shaw) in case
The Great Hanley First Base Experiment implodes. Let's not forget, the 31-year old Craig is not that far removed from a
really good, All-Star season in 2013 (.313, 13 HRs, 97 RBIs in a 134-game injury-shortened campaign). If (and it's a
huge "if") he regains
any of that form, it would be hard to keep him out of the lineup. Of course, he has to
make the team first—something that is still an unlikely prospect. Still, wouldn't it be nice to have
both Craig and
Joe Kelly (the fruits of the
John Lackey trade) make significant contributions in 2016?
