Barring a meeting in the post-season, September 29th will be the last game
David Ortiz will play in Yankee Stadium.
The New York Post's Kevin Kernan asked the Red Sox DH
what he'd like in that final appearance in Gotham City. Said
Big Papi,
"You know what I want most of all? I would love it if the fans at Yankee Stadium gave me a standing ovation." That's it, pure and simple. No cowboy boots or bronze plaques necessary. Just a recognition of his achievements—from the fans of his team's biggest rival. As bitter as the century-long struggle has been between these franchises, we're pretty sure Yankee fans will oblige. They are as passionate as we are, and they love the game as much as we do. They'll do the right thing.
