Sox Are Early Leaders For AL Team Of The 21st Century
We are now 15 years into the 21st century. So far it pretty much stinks as centuries go—except for baseball. Your Carmine Hose have won three World Series Championships since 2001—exactly 20% of all available rings. Not bad. In fact, according to MLB.com columnist Mike Bauman, the Red Sox are leading the pack for American League Team Of The Century with 69 points. Bauman allocates ten points for a World Series championship, five for a league championship, and three for getting to a League Championship Series. Teams also get two points for winning a division and one point for reaching the postseason as a Wild Card. Finishing an ignominious second in the AL are The Bronx Embalmers—trailing Boston by 5 points. The Cardinals lead all teams with 83 points.
