Red Sox great
Tony Conigliaro would have been
seventy-one years old today. The graduate of St. Mary's High School in Lynn, Massachusetts was
the quickest to 100 home runs in MLB history—heartbreakingly struck down in his prime. Just a year and a half after the horrible events of August 18, 1967,
he came back to hit 20 HRs with 82 RBI in 141 games. He was truly one of us—he will
always be one of us.
