MLB Opens Door To China With Live Streaming Games
There are approximately 1.4 billion people living in the People's Republic of China—that's about 2.8 billion eyeballs that Major League Baseball would like watching MLB games. To that end, MLB has inked a three-year deal to live stream games to China. Starting with the 2016 season, four regular season games per week will be available—along with the All-Star Game, Home Run Derby, playoff games and every World Series contest. Said MLB VP Eric Mika: "If ping pong brought China and America closer together, imagine what baseball will do". The fact that Commissioner Rob Manfred made the historic announcement at the high-visibility Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas demonstrates the importance he places on the initiative.
