OK, so
'Poutin' Manning has
ruined your Wintah. Get over it. The Red Sox season is right around the corner. In fact in just over 15 days, the celebrated Equipment Truck will pull out of Yawkey Way headed for Fenway South. And,
it looks as if the team may be facing a bit of a backstop conundrum.
Christian Vazquez has proclaimed that he will be "100%" recovered from
Tommy John surgery when camp opens on February 19th. So, that means we will have
four healthy catchers at Spring Training: Vazquez,
Blake Swihart,
Andover High School's
Ryan Hanigan and the immortal
Ali "Cassius" Solis. The party line from
Dave Dombrowski has been that Vazquez would be given time to regain his strength and skills at AAA this year. By the way, in case you've forgotten, Vazquez threw out
over 50% of runners in 2014 and is called 'Mini-Yadi' after his idol
Yadier Molina. So, the kid may force the brass' hand to make a decision on just who will don the
"tools of ignorance" for
The Carmine Hose in 2016. Stay tuned!
