Aroldis Chapman |
According to Alex Speier of
The Boston Globe (AKA
John Henry's Journalistic Plaything),
the Red Sox passed on a trade for Aroldis Chapman when allegations of domestic abuse were uncovered. Up to that point, Boston had been weighing their options between two dominant closers: Chapman and their eventual choice,
Craig Kimbrel. The abuse allegations came to
public light just this week. While Kimbrel cost the Red Sox more in prospects (given his longer contractual control), the team avoided any potential controversy about Chapman's behavior—both in the past and going forward. Given this new information, it looks like
Dave Dombrowski made the right decision.
