Jean Machi |
Remember
Jean Machi last year with the Red Sox? You know, the guy that actually was our
closer for a while? You don't? Well, that's probably better for your overall psyche. Keep it that way. Anyway,
Machi has been signed by old friend Theo Epstein to play on the North Side of Chicago for the Cubbies. It's just a minor-league contract for the the soon-to-be 34-year old, but it gives him a chance to rejuvenate his career—after being picked up off waivers from the Giants last year by Boston. While donning
Carmine Hose, Machi went 1-0 with a 5.09 ERA in 23 innings of work. He
did, however, tally four saves. He will likely vie for a bullpen spot in Spring Training for
The Sons Of Joe Maddon.
