Carrasco (L); Quintana (R) |
There is some speculation that the acquisition of OF
Chris Young may trigger a major Red Sox trade for a starting pitcher—one that
could include either
Jackie Bradley, Jr. or
Rusney Castillo. While President of Baseball Operations
Dave Dombrowski seems obsessed with signing free-agent starter
David Price, the Boston rotation is clearly in need of
more than the lefty ace. With Young in the fold, the Red Sox could conceivably peddle one of the young outfielders
not named
Mookie Betts (in addition to other prospects)
to get a young promising starter. Some possibilities are 26-year old
José Quintana of the White Sox or either
Carlos Carrasco or
Danny Salazar of the Indians. They might even get
more ambitious and go for Quintana's
Pale Hoser teammate
Chris Sale. Stay tuned!
