As suspected, the Red Sox today picked up the $13 million 2016 option on
Clay Buchholz. Interestingly, though, multiple sources are
also reporting that
the team may quickly turn around and trade the oft-injured righty. The word on the street is that there are multiple teams interested in taking a gamble on the health of Buchholz at the relatively reasonable price of $13 million. The theory is that Boston could use the savings in their pursuit of a top-of-the-rotation starter. Stay tuned.
