The Editors of FenwayNation have named relief pitcher
Tommy Layne as their
'Under The Radar' Award winner for 2015. The award recognizes that player who made
"generally under-recognized contributions" to the success of the team. Layne pitched in 64 games for
The Carmine Hose—throwing a total of 47 2/3 innings. He gave up just 41 hits and held opponents to a .234 average. He also struck out 45 batters. His 3.97 ERA was eighth best on the
entire staff. The 30-year old lefty was one of the few bight spots in the Red Sox 'pen. Former '
Under The Radar' recipients were: pitcher
Alex Wilson in 2014 and OF/IF
Daniel Nava in 2013. Congratulations, Tommy on getting the 2015 honors!
