Over the next two seasons, the Red Sox owe
Allen Craig a total of $20 million—to a guy with no definable role on the team. Multiple reports suggest that
Dave Dombrowski is
trying to deal Craig to—essentially—any team that will take him. On Boston's part that will probably mean eating most of the $20 million pact—and getting a marginal prospect or two in return. But, at least Craig would be off the roster and in a situation that
might afford him more playing time. After all, the guy is still only 31 years old—and just a couple of years away from being a hitting and run-producing machine for St. Louis. In any event,
The Craig Era in Boston is likely over.
