Mookie Betts' September 25th game-ending
and shutout-saving catch has been nominated for best defensive play in the
2015 Esurance MLB Awards. The spectacular grab was the high point of a fantastic game at Fenway—
perhaps the best of the year.
Rich Hill went the distance to shut out the Orioles, with Betts robbing Baltimore slugger
Chris Davis of a sure HR as he leaped high over the Red Sox bullpen to make the catch.
The Esurance MLB Awards are part of an industry-wide balloting process that includes five components: media, front-office personnel, retired MLB players, fans at MLB.com and Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) voters. Let's hope Mookie brings home the prize!
