The Bronx Embalmers are
still not guaranteed a spot in the 2015 post-season. And we can all thank
Mookie Betts and the Red Sox for that. Betts had
another two-HR night (he now has 18 on the year) in Boston's
9-5 comeback, 11-inning win over The Evil Ones.
Wade Miley was given a 3-0 lead in the first inning—thanks to a three-run HR by
Travis Shaw—but could not make it hold up. In fact,
The Pinstriped Posers went ahead 5-4 in the sixth on a solo shot by
A-Fraud The Centaur. Then, the magic came back. In the seventh, the
MookMeister hit a solo HR to tie the score. In the 11th, he launched a two-out, two-run blast to salt the game for good. Also contributing offensively were:
Deven Marrero (11th inning tie-breaking RBI),
David Ortiz (2-2, RBI),
Dustin Pedroia (2-6, 1 R), and
Blake Swihart (2-5). This is Boston's season-high
sixth win in a row—and, even better, the Yankee loss
again denied them their 10,000th franchise win.
