Cubs Could Move A Step Closer To Glory At Wrigley
On October 10th, 1945 the Chicago Cubs—playing at Wrigley Field in Game Seven—had a chance to win their first World Series title in 37 years. You might have heard—they didn't pull it off. Tonight, seventy years down the road, they have a chance to get a step closer to a ring with a victory at the corner of Clark and Addison. Chances are, the possible celebration tonight would be bigger than the 1945 festivities would have been. The North Side of Chicago is starved for a championship—especially since their South Side rivals got one a mere ten years ago. Of course, the Cubbies have occasionally come close since 1945—but they've lost all six times in post-season play before they could reach The Holy Grail of Hardball. That's why tonight could be huge—putting them just 8 wins from eradicating both The Curse Of The Billy Goat and The Curse of The Bartman in one fell swoop. You gotta be rooting for these guys.
