It didn't take long for
Don Orsillo to land a new gig. According to multiple reports,
the soon-to-be-former Red Sox broadcaster will succeed the legendary Dick Enberg as the voice of the San Diego Padres. Orsillo, who has been on NESN since 2001, was summarily fired by the "network"—a move that was met with scorn from a large share of the team's fan base. Reportedly, former Red Sox (and current Padre) CEO
Mike Dee was aggressively pursuing Orsillo as soon as word of his dismissal hit the streets. Dee even flew to Boston to woo the Melrose, Massachusetts native. Hall-Of-Famer Engberg, 80, previously announced he was stepping down after this season. It looks like a good fit for Orsillo, and we wish him the best!
