After shutting down reliever
Junichi Tazawa earlier this week,
the Red Sox have now also de-commissioned starter Joe Kelly for the rest of the season. Kelly had won eight straight starts before faltering in his final outing in Baltimore. The reason for the shutdown is "stiffness" in his right throwing shoulder—never a good sign. Said Red Sox manager
Torey Lovullo,
"It's probably not going to be the best thing to run him back out there." We agree.
