The top contenders for the
2015 Louisville Slugger Silver Slugger Awards were announced today. Four Red Sox players are in contention:
Dustin Pedroia (2B);
Xander Bogaerts (SS),
Hanley Ramirez (OF), and
David Ortiz (DH). Realistically—given injury and performance issues—only Bogaerts and Ortiz are likely to walk away with the honor. The awards have been given out by
Louisville Slugger every year since 1980. MLB coaches and managers of each team choose who
they think are the best offensive players at each position. Award recipients will be announced on Wednesday, Nov. 12. Good luck, Dustin, Xander, Hanley and Papi!
