Travis Shaw might be the Red Sox first baseman of the future. Today, however, he was a "spot" starter at third base. No problem, skip! Shaw only went
4-4, with two HRs, five runs scored and four RBIs to lead Boston to
an 11-7 drubbing of Tampa. It was Boston's third win in a row—as Boston was rapidly becoming one of the most "offensive" teams in baseball—
literally.
Xander Bogaerts also had four hits and three RBIs and
Rusney Castillo had three hits and three RBIs.
Joe Kelly got the "victory" with five plus innings of typical mediocre pitching—giving up five earned runs. Newcomer
Jean Machi got his first save in
Carmine Hose—getting the last four outs.
