There's a reason Red Sox OF prospect
Manuel Margot was mentioned prominently in virtually every July trade rumor involving
The Carmine Hose. The 20-year old Margot has been tabbed as an emerging star for
years. As
MassLive.com's Christopher Smith points out,
the influential FanGraphs website has touted Margot's talents as far back as August of 2013.
This year—most recently at AA Portland—he has been fulfilling those high expectations. So far, Margot has collected 31 extra base hits (at
both Single and Double A)—19 doubles, eight triples, 4 HRs. Just yesterday, he went 3-4 with three doubles, an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base. Oh, did we mention, he has
31 stolen bases this year as well? Margot is just 6' and 170 lbs., but he has power disproportionate to his size. Keep an eye out for him!
