Could knuckle-baller
Steven Wright be the 21st-century coming of
Tim Wakefield? Well, let's not get all that excited just
yet. Nevertheless, Wright
did shut down a highly offensive (and we do mean that phrase
both ways)
Empire lineup last night in
a 2-1 win at The Concrete Bunker On 161st Street. In fact, as
John Farrell stated,
"Given this lineup in this ballpark, he was outstanding from start to finish." The Red Sox offense was carried by
David Ortiz (a monster solo HR in the 4th) and
Alejandro De Aza (an RBI double after a Yankee error). [
Full disclosure: FenwayNation criticized Farrell for starting De Aza over
Rusney Castillo—that's why
we don't manage in the big leagues]. All in all, a very nice win in the Bronx—capped by a heart-stopping save by
Koji Uehara.
