Before the trading deadline, we strongly recommended that Red Sox GM
Ben Cherington do
a "lesser" trade to pick up a "young, controllable arm". Specifically, we suggested either White Sox lefty
José Quintana or (our
real choice) Indians righty
Carlos Carrasco. As we all know
'Stand Pat' Ben did nothing but ship out
Shane Victorino. Well, in Carrasco's last two starts, here's his line:
18 IP, 3 H, 2 BB, 14 Ks. That's right,
two nine inning starts and all of three hits. This is the kind of young starter we
should have pursued—in exchange for a bevy of second-tier prospects. What might have been!
