Let's look on the positive side—the Red Sox are 1-0 in
The Dave Dombrowski Era. Behind a barrage of four home runs, Boston got just enough offense as a bulwark against their still-awful bullpen in
a 6-4 win.
David Ortiz got his 492nd HR, and was joined by
Jackie Bradley, Jr. (3-run shot),
Travis Shaw and Andover's
Ryan Hanigan in pacing the attack. Bradley, Jr. made
another spectacular catch in his natural CF position.
Joe Kelly pitched well—going six innings and giving up just one
unearned run. It was the bullpen again that caused some jitters, as
Jean Machi worked just 1/3 of an inning and gave up two earned runs—including a HR. The win marks the first time in a long time that
The Carmine Hose are over .500 at home (31-30). Hey, it's
something.
