If you could single out a game that best exemplifies the 2015 Red Sox season, this might be it. A
fair amount of offense (4 runs),
kind of acceptable starting pitching (5 innings, 2 ERs),
stellar play by the three young "Killer Bs" (
Mookie Betts,
Xander Bogaerts,
Jackie Bradley, Jr.—7 for 13 with 2 RBIs and 3 runs scored), and a
ridiculously crappy bullpen performance (4.1 innings, 3 ERs, a blown save). What it all amounts to is
a devastating 5-4, extra-innings loss after holding a 4-0 lead into the sixth inning over the worst team in baseball. Unacceptable!
