Maybe he's just pitched too many innings over the last few years. But, for whatever reason,
Junichi Tazawa blew his second save in the last three days as
Tampa came back to beat Boston, 4-3. Tazawa came on in the eighth trying to preserve a 3-2 Boston lead, but gave up two doubles and a bloop single. Lead gone.
The Carmine Hose were poised to win their fourth in a row—an extremely rare achievement in this desolate year. Boston got RBIs from
David Ortiz,
Hanley Ramirez and
Mike Napoli—but it just wasn't enough. Rookie
Travis Shaw collected two more hits and is now hitting .391.
