If
Xander Bogaerts could engineer a perfect PR campaign for his bid to become the final
American League All-Star, it would look a lot like Tuesday night's performance. With his team trailing 3-1 in the bottom of the seventh, Bogaerts faced a two-out, bases-loaded situation. And the Marlin pitcher was "hopping" off the mound throwing 100 MPH. In one of the best at-bats of 2015, Bogaerts kept battling until he cleared the bases with a gap single—
putting Boston ahead to stay, 4-3.
It was epic.
Dan Haren and
Wade Miley had battled evenly until the quick-working Boston lefty gave up a two-spot in the top of the seventh to give the Marlins a two-run edge. Then, it was
Xander Time. And, now we'll see if Bogey will
"Have Or Have Not" an All-Star slot.
